Android 10-Based LineageOS 17.1 Released With Unique Features
LineageOS developers, the minds behind the popular Android custom ROM, have finally announced LineageOS 17.1. It is based on Android 10 and supports a long list of devices.
The peculiar naming scheme is because the release is based on Pixel’s first feature drop of December, hence LineageOS 17.1 and not LineageOS 17.

LineageOS is known to be one of the best custom ROMs out there, thanks to the stability, stock Android look, and frequent updates it offers to Android devices. Its vast following can also be credited to the users’ trust in developers since several of them arrived from the CyanogenMod project.
The new LineageOS 17.1 release offers several exciting and unique features, along with the Android 10 feature bundle. The build includes a freshly-baked ThemePicker app for changing system-wide accent color, icon shapes in the notification panel, system fonts, and more.
There is now support for on-screen fingerprint sensors. Also, there is biometric authentication to hide or lock apps in the launcher. Other changes include partial screenshot functionality, support for pop-up and rotating cameras, WiFi display, new emojis in the AOSP keyboard, and more. You can read the full changelog here.
One significant change starting with the new build is that LineageOS recovery will be the default option for installing the custom ROM. According to the developers, the step is taken to “streamline the process and prevent having to coordinate releases.”
Installing the update, as usual, requires users to flash the build and follow other steps of installing a custom ROM. The list of supported devices, for now, includes a few high-end devices and budget devices. To name a few, there is Pocophone F1, several OnePlus devices (7Pro, 6T, 6, 3/3T), Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi Mi 8, Asus Zenfone 6.
